Author by: Ken Robinson Language: en Publisher by: Penguin UK Format Available: PDF, ePub, Mobi Total Read: 90 Total Download: 775 File Size: 55,8 Mb Description: The element is the point at which natural talent meets personal passion. This groundbreaking new book is all about how every one of us can find our element, connecting with our true talents and fulfilling our creative potential. Creativity expert Ken Robinson believes that we are all born with tremendous natural capacities, but that we lose touch with them as we spend more time in the world.
Whether it's a child bored in class, an employee being misused or just someone who feels frustrated but can't quite explain why, too many people don't know what they are really capable of achieving. Education, business and society as a whole are losing out.
The Element draws on the stories of a wide range of people - from ex-Beatle Paul McCartney to renowned physicist Richard Feynman and many others, including business leaders and athletes - showing how all of them came to recognize their unique talents and were able to make a successful living doing what they love. With a wry sense of humour and a sense of optimism, Ken Robinson looks at the conditions that enable us to find ourselves in the element, and those that stifle that possibility.
He shows that age and occupation are no barrier and he argues that there is an urgent need to enhance creativity and innovation by thinking differently about ourselves. Author by: H. Author by: Anthony O'Hear Language: en Publisher by: Routledge Format Available: PDF, ePub, Mobi Total Read: 78 Total Download: 973 File Size: 45,6 Mb Description: First published in 1988, the aim of this book can be stated in Nietzsche’s words: ‘To look at science from the perspective of the artist, but at art from that of life’. The title contests the notions that science alone can provide us with the most objective truth about the world, and that artistic endeavour can produce nothing more valuable than entertainment. O’Hear argues that art and the study of art are not indispensable aspects of human life, and that this is equally as important as the investigation of the natural world.
Author by: Ken Robinson Language: en Publisher by: Penguin UK Format Available: PDF, ePub, Mobi Total Read: 57 Total Download: 633 File Size: 48,6 Mb Description: Ken Robinson, author of the international bestseller The Element and the most viewed talk on TED.com, offers a practical guide to discovering your passions and natural aptitudes, and finding the point at which the two meet: Finding Your Element. Through a range of stories from his own experience and those of people from all walks of life, Ken Robinson explores the diversity of intelligence and the power of imagination and creativity. For some, finding their element has brought fame and success, like Ellen McArthur's unusual journey from growing up in a landlocked ex-mining town to achieving sailing glory. However many of the inspiring stories are of ordinary people who read the first book and were moved to share how its principles have transformed their lives, like the man who found fulfilment as a magician after years of working as a computer engineer. This book also provides the tools, techniques, resources and advice you need to discover the depth of your abilities and identify opportunities for change. It looks at the conditions that enable you to find yourself: why it's so important to connect with people who share your element and why your attitudes may be holding you back. Finding Your Element shows that age and occupation are no barriers to discovering what makes us happiest, and that once we have found our path we can help others to do so as well.

Author by: Christopher Walker Language: en Publisher by: Trafford Publishing Format Available: PDF, ePub, Mobi Total Read: 97 Total Download: 944 File Size: 50,6 Mb Description: It's totally refreshing to find a book written by a bloke for blokes about blokes in love. This book is well overdue and women all over the world should be celebrating. At last a bloke talking about 'evolve-ya-bastard' to men. What is great is the question and answer format. So, it's relevant and contextual. I mean he's taken questions from people and answered them in as short a space of page as could be imagined.
I don't think he could have said less, but in this case, less is more. The chapter about 'understanding others' is awesome too. Who would have thought that thousands of years ago people knew so much about the human constitution and how 'different folks need different strokes' just from that alone, we can understand the dynamics between ourselves and others better and therefore, respect them more. The last chapter blew us away. Those two circles and the idea of being individual for more than 60% of our life yet, merging for 30% is sensational. It just makes being in love so much more fun.
Partners all over the world will really laugh at this when they see how simple it can be. This is really life changing. As for the laws of nature: what genius. It is said that the most powerful teacher can make the most complex, simple. Brilliant understanding of the whole entire universe in five short laws, it's really unimaginable that it can be so ordered and perfect.
So is this book. Also available from Trafford Publishing: Personal Harmony The Laws of Nature for a Better Business The Laws of Nature for a Better Life The Laws of Nature for a Better Self.
