I have tried using the Fairlight 1.19 server/client patch for Neverwinter Nights, but it doesnt seem to work. I can create a server fine, but when I try running the game with Fairlight's patch, it asks for a cd-key after the intro movies. Even when I enter a valid cd-key it gives me an 'invalid cd-key' error. With the Deviance 1.19 patch I can get into the game and play single-player. But when I try to play multiplayer, it wont let me create an account. Can anyone help me with this problem? Alright, first, get rid of the Fairlight patch, it doesn't work.
Put back on the Deviance 1.19 crack. In order to play this online, you have to add a line to your 'hosts' file for Windows. The file is located in Windows 2000/XP: /%System Root%/system32/drivers/ect/ (I don't know where it is at on Windows9x, might want to do a search) In that directory you should see a file named 'hosts' without a file extension. Just open it up with a text editor. It should have an entry that looks like this: 127.0.0.1 localhost Just add this line right underneath it: 127.0.0.2 nwmaster.bioware.com Then save the file and make sure it still doesn't have a file extension if you used notepad. That basically tells windows that whenever an application or browser wants the domain address 'nwmaster.bioware.com' (the Bioware address that validates keys) it will try to connect to 127.0.0.2 (which is a personal ip instead of a global one) and will ping out and not check your cd key.
You should be able to connect to other people who have also cracked the game. The only drawback to this is, each person in the game HAS to have a different Serial Number. It won't let you join if someone has the same Serial Number.
So you might want to look for a keygen as well. If you ever go out and buy the game (which you should, lol), then just remove that line from your 'hosts' file, and everything should work as normal. If you have any questions, you can email them to me at, and i'll answer whatever ones i can. Don't know if they will remove this post from the forums or not, but you might want to save the info somewhere just in case they do. Well, I don't think you can patch up to 1.20 yet. I don't think there is a crack for it yet, or at least, I havn't found it. You should uninstall the game, reinstall, and then apply the 1.19 patch & crack.
See if that takes care of the crash to the desktop. If you can't find the old patch, I have it, and I can send it to you through email or whatever other way you want it. Just let me know. To answer the other questions. Yes, you can join and make a server made by you. But there are 2 ways to go about it.
1) You can use the dedicated server program in the NWM folder, but you will need the Fairlight server crack (just overwrite the nwserver.exe not the nwmain.exe). Also, you cannot save the game from within the client, but you can set the server to auto-save the world every X amount of minutes if so inclined.
This is not the best way to go about it, it's more suited for persistant modules & a dedicated computer. 2) The other way (and the best way) is to find out your IP address (or get a dynamic DNS address) and host a server from within the game itself. If you've already modified the 'hosts' file, then you can just go to 'Multiplayer' in the game and 'Host a LAN/Internet Game'. Now, if you want it on the Internet, then go to the 'Advanced Options' screen while setting up and put a 'X' in the box 'Post To The Internet'. If you just want to host a LAN game, then leave it alone.

Then it should work fine. You'll get a message about 'Cannot connect to Master Server, some Multiplayer options will be disabled', but that just means Bioware can't check you're CD key. Don't even worry about it.

To get people to connect, they can go to either 'Join Internet Game' (if on Internet) or 'Join LAN Game' (if on Lan). If it's an internet game, don't use the stupid Gamespy browser, just use the 'Direct Connect' button and then input your IP address (that's why I said get your IP address earlier). If it's on LAN, it should show up in the browser. Keep in mind, you still need separate keys for each client connecting. You'll need a keygen for that. You should be able to find one easy enough on the internet, but if you can't, email me and I'll help point you in the right direction. I hope this is easy to understand, I'm not very good at explaining things.
Email me if you have run into any problems. Thanks now it works much better i have still 1.20 but is same like 1.19 and works perfect when i join from gamespy it suxxx But from the Game (multiplayer, internet) it works last question When i start server can evrybody join my game (also with nocracked game?)? AND one problem: when i start NWN and go in multiplayer i DONT HAVE a button to Host a Game Why?? I see chatroom, players, Games evrything, but nothing for Hosting a Game With nwserver.exe it works ok i can find my own game and join my own game:-). Well I got it to work like Kuso-kun explained And that was on XP with NWN patched to 1.20 and using the Deviance 1.19 crack. Now my problem is I can't get it to work on my Win98 rig.
The 'hosts' file is called hosts.sam found in the windows dir, there's also one called Lmhosts.sam in there too. I tryed rebooting after making the changes to the host.sam and that didn't work. I try a fresh fresh install with a different key and that didn't work either.
I get to the create account screen when it gives me the invalid key screen. So I think it has somthing to do with that hosts file. Is there another way to make bind nwmaster.bioware.com to my local rig in Win98? I can't find the 1.19 patch from bioware. And I wish I'd been paying more attention when I did it in XP cuz I don't remember exactly what happened when I created my account.it just worked.
